Welcome to Protea Toastmasters Club Club 2132 – District 74 |
|
We are a club which encourages and supports our members to become better public speakers by being creative and courageous when speaking or taking on leadership roles in our meetings. We have a lot of fun, and because we represent a broad range of people in terms of age, gender, occupation, cultural background, mother tongues (english, hebrew, german, afrikaans, manderin, isixhosa, shona) we offer a Fun & Safe place for learning the craft of public speaking. Networking and engaging with a client or any other individuals, whether on a personal or business level, depends on how confident you are as a person. This is what I have gained from being a member of Toastmasters, the ability to interact with confidence, no matter on which level. I frequently find myself in a situation where I suddenly hear this voice inside me, saying "Thanks to Toastmasters" for the training and guidance it gave me so that I can cope with that specific situation, whether I am in a one-on-one or group situation. – Derek
Joining Toastmasters was the best decision I have ever made in developing myself. Not only am I learning to deal and overcome the fear of public speaking, but I also get the opportunity to develop my leadership skills. I also enjoy interacting with fellow members and making friendships along the way. – Nokufika
I am a person who sometimes experiences stage fright and struggles to organise my thoughts in such a way that they will drive the message home. I'm recently new at Toastmasters Berea joined in April 2011, but I was overwhelmed by the warmth, the kindness of my fellow toastmasters club members in welcoming me and most importantly the positive feedback I received after my first speech, I now know I'm on the road to being a better speaker and presenter. – Kolisa
I like to speak, but I tend to babble. Toastmaster has taught me to structure my speech and to get to the point. The best of it, it happens in an organised but jocund atmosphere. [And I learned some new words :0)] – Cathrin
Toastmasters has helped to be fluid and flexible in the moment – Colin
After joining Toastmasters with much reservation - not in the organization but my own abilities - I have experienced tremendous growth in the year that I have been part of this great organisation. (Since 2007)
During this time I have been called on numerous occasions to address audiences from as few as 15 up to 200 strong in various capacities and have done so with far more self-confidence than ever imagined.
I have also met prominent leaders in the business community, locally and internationally, who are still or were at some point in their lives part of this fantastic organization and who enthusiastically endorse their membership and the Toastmasters Organisation in general.
I can personally only encourage all those I come into contact with to join and be part of this incredible group of like-minded individuals and to grow on more levels than they ever would have imagined. - Butch
Toastmasters taught me to believe (in ME) – Derek
Toastmasters inspires me to be the best I can be – René
It's about polishing, refining and achieving personal goals of self-development and leadership skill – Colin
